“Ultimately, digitalization is about leveraging technology to make life easier. It truly is as simple as that.” says James Kugler, Chief Digital Officer of the Merck Group, who leads a global unit as a disruptive thinker in the digital age. He will be holding a keynote about “Disrupting the disrupters” at the Digital Health Summit No. 8.

The Merck Group is a German science and technology company, globally working on breakthrough solutions and technologies with about 53.000 employees. Kugler’s career started as corporate strategist and planer at Sigma-Aldrich (since 2015 a Merck Group entity), where he led the development of a platform for scientifically collaboration. He went on to become the Head of Global New Product Development & Introduction in 2012 and was responsible for harmonizing and streamlining the product development process. In 2014, Kugler returned to Sigma-Aldrich.com, where he was responsible for leading and developing the largest eCommerce platform in the life science industry.

At the age of 28, he was appointed the Chief Digital Offer at Merck.  In this role, he is currently guiding Merck into a digital future and working to leverage technology to make lives easier through ‘pragmatically radical digitalization.’  James Kugler firmly believes that digital does not need to be complicated.  After all, the most radical transformations tend to be firmly rooted in pragmatism.

Listen to James Kugler’s exciting keynote about “Disrupting the disrupters” from 2:45 PM until 3:30 PM on the 13th of June. You can find us in hall 26, which also hosts the topic “New tech: disruptive technologies”.

As a leading strategy consultancy in the German health care sector, the SKC Beratungsgesellschaft, in cooperation with the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and the CEBIT, presents the Digital Health Summit no. 8. All information about the program can be found here.
