HTA in the Turkish health care system

Fri, 2019 / 08 / 30
Health technology evolution, processes, concepts - these and many other topics were discussed in the first SKC workshop at the Turkish regulatory authority in Ankara. The event was organised by Siemens Healthcare Saglik Anonim Sirketi.

In this context, Prof. Dr. Schönermark explained to the approxiamtely 40 participants, consisting of officials of the Turkish authorities and representatives of the economy, which dangers and risks exist, which challenges can be mastered, and which opportunities can be seized. Thereby, the numerous current trends, such as e-health and its possible applications, were also a topic of big interest. The showcase example of Germany for successful pricing and reimbursement strategies was discussed intensively and the findings were transferred to the Turkish context.

Furthermore, SKC had a unique experience in the context of this project day: it was the first one, which followed the rules of Ramadan. However, this did not detract the interest of the audience, as the topic of HTA was and is of interest to the plenum. Due to the single payer status and a low share of health expenditure in the GDP, there is still a lot of design scope at the Turkish health care system, that should be used. Especially from the patients' point of view this is of highest interest. At the end of the day, the new conclusions were discussed and further plans for the Turkish health system were developed together.

Due to our manifold competences in the field of health care systems, we succeed in transferring aspects from one health care system to another. As a result, potentials can be realized and successful best-practices from other countries can be utilized, so that all stakeholders benefit from more efficient care.
