Together against rare diseases

SKC donates to the children's and youth hospital AUF DER BULT

Thu, 2023 / 12 / 21
The children's and youth hospital AUF DER BULT in Hanover is one of the leading children's hospitals for the treatment of rare diseases in Germany, particularly in the areas of rare congenital skin diseases, rare diseases of the nervous and muscular system and rare forms of diabetes.

The managing directors of SKC Beratungsgesellschaft, Heike Kielhorn-Schönermark and Prof. Dr. med. Matthias P. Schönermark, are once again donating 2,500 euros to support the children's and youth hospital BULT this year.

The hospital's neonatology department is currently being modernized so that a total of 22 intensive care beds for state-of-the-art neonatal treatment will be created by summer 2024 - one of the largest facilities in Germany. At the donation handover, Prof. Dr. med. Matthias P. Schönermark brought helium balloons for the little patients and was enthusiastic about the innovative approaches. He also met Professor Dr. Hagen Ott, chief physician for paediatric dermatology and allergology, with whom SKC has initiated a pro bono project on the care situation for the rare disease epidermolysis bullosa, also known as "butterfly disease". The BULT Advent calendar video from December 20 features Rebekka Drägerdt explaining how she supports the treatment of this rare skin disease as an outreach nurse.

Further information can be found at the BULT website.
